Cookies and similar technologies
UK privacy rules apply not only to traditional cookies but also to technologies that store information on, or access information from, a user’s device. Speedly therefore treats local browser storage and third-party scripts as part of the same consent design.
Essential storage
Speedly stores your privacy choice in local browser storage so the site can remember whether optional categories are enabled. This is treated as essential because it is used to respect and enforce your privacy preference.
Optional analytics and advertising
Analytics and advertising technologies are optional. The supplied consent manager keeps those categories off by default and only activates scripts assigned to an optional category after a positive choice. Rejecting optional technologies does not prevent the speed test, guides or legal pages from working.
Google reCAPTCHA
The protected contact form loads Google reCAPTCHA when you submit it to reduce automated spam and abuse. It is not loaded merely because you visit the contact page. If you prefer not to use the protected form, you can contact Speedly by email instead.
Advertising
If advertising is added in future, advertising scripts should remain blocked until the advertising category has been enabled where consent is required. The site should be updated to identify the advertising provider, purposes, storage duration and relevant privacy information before those technologies are deployed.
Changing your choice
Use the control to review your current choices. You can also clear site data in your browser, which will cause Speedly to ask for a new choice on a later visit.
Optional technologies should not be loaded before a valid choice. Accepting and rejecting optional categories should both be straightforward, and changes to the technologies used on the site should trigger a review of this policy and consent manager.
