More than just a headline speed.
Throughput tells only part of the story. Latency and consistency can matter just as much for gaming, calls and interactive services.
What does download speed tell me?
Download speed measures how quickly data reaches your device. It affects streaming, browsing, software downloads and large file transfers. Results can change with Wi-Fi quality, congestion and the test server route.
What are ping and jitter?
Ping is the round-trip response time to the test server. Jitter is the variation between latency samples. Lower and more consistent values generally produce a more responsive experience for calls, gaming and remote desktops.
Why does upload speed matter?
Upload speed affects video calls, sending large files, cloud backups and livestreaming. A connection can have excellent download performance while still feeling constrained when several devices are uploading at the same time.
How should I run a fair test?
For the clearest comparison, close large downloads, pause cloud backups and test over Ethernet where possible. If you are checking Wi-Fi, test in several locations and compare the results with a wired baseline.
